      A combination of the phone app basically "pluging" in coordinates, and figuring out my time zone seems to have alowed me to get through the steps. Preliminary setup according to the manual, then the steps I just mentioned. It got too light out to see the alignment stars by the time I figured all this out. Next clear night, we'll see if I do indeed know what I'm doing.

      @@michaelslack4937 2X Barlow is standard, but, they make bigger, like 2.5X, 3X, and 5X. The longer the focal length you make your scope by using a barlow, your mount will play an important part as well. If your mount can't keep the scope steady, you will not be able to use a more powerful barlow.

    Interesting video. I would expect better results on the moon, given your good image of Saturn- a much harder target. Could be missed focus, or the lack of a UV/IR filter causing fogging. Also the nosepiece needs to be exactly orthogonal to the chip for good results, hard to achieve using this method.

    Running both hoses touching doesn't really help because if it did anything it would warm up the colder water heading to the camera. I run a co2 laser cutter and at first I tried a bucket of water to keep the laser cool but it fails rapidly. Your experiment doesn't generate nearly as much heat but I think you definitely can benefit from a larger reservoir with maybe a coil of copper tubing to help cool the return water if that water is warmer than ambient air.

    • @Myastroimages
      @Myastroimages Год назад

      Hi Bill, yes, the larger reservoir, and no ice would have been enough for this to work properly. Yes, the heat is not too great, but you're correct, there would be some cooling loss with both hoses together. I got greedy and tried pushing it to the max and ultimately destroyed the camera. I never got these out under the stars to properly test the results. Thanks for your sugggestions. Doug

      Hi John, No, you do not need to re-enter the GPS location again if you're in the same place. It remembers your last GPS Location. I would recommend you "PARK" the scope after you end your session. Also, it would be a good idea to do another star alignment the next day. Doug

    • @Myastroimages
      @Myastroimages Год назад

      Hi Linda, I probably don't know enough about color pallets to explain this well. However, using a Narrowband filter (Ha) this is normally the most prominent visual representation. For the most part, astrophotography is an artistic representation, and not the true colors in the sky. Example, Ha filter by itself is black and white (Mono), but we assign colors to these black and white photos to help represent different gases in the object. Some of the Best Artistic Astrophotographers have great processing techniques to help the image look better to the human eye. One of my favorites is Rogelio Bernal Andreo www.deepskycolors.com/ He really knows how to make the best out of his Colors in his images. I found my images turning this "green" color and found this trick to help bring out a boring green image into something better. Doug

    It would be good if someone could make a video showing adults how to choose a beginner scope for a child, how to assemble , adjust and operate the scope and how to help the kid understand the details of finding objects, focusing and tracking the object, using different eyepieces, and learning to use helpful night sky websites, etc.

  • @garygullikson6349
    @garygullikson6349 Год назад

    Inexpensive beginner telescopes, with considerable adult help, can give an introduction to astronomy or at least the thrill of seeing the moon and planets "live" through a telescope. They are jiggly, hard to focus, and require fairly good seeing conditions, using low power eyepieces. The kid must be interested, patient, and learn to operate the controls and focus gently while looking through the eyepiece without disturbing the scope. Helping a kid use a beginner/kid's microscope is a very similar situation.

    • @Myastroimages
      @Myastroimages Год назад

      Very good points Gary. I believe for starters, most kids would get more value at looking around during the day. You can start to realize what all the controls do. Then after learning the basics of terrestrial viewing, then advance towards solar system planets, moon, etc. Thank you! Doug

    Now when there's multistar guiding - I don't think a long focal length guidescope would be a good choice. Too few stars in the fov to guide with.

      I learned something new! Thank you Maciej for letting me know about Multi-star guiding. I've never tried that before. What software do you use for Multi-star guiding? Do you see better results using Multi-Star Guiding?

      garyseronik.com/wp-content/uploads/manual/Parts.jpg This should get you going with the dimensions. Also reference this website: garyseronik.com/a-tracking-platform-for-astrophotography/#more-52 Doug

    Your timing is perfect. Thanks. Recd them and it worked on spacer and a stuck m42-48 adapter and my gatorades. Pickles are next. Thanks again
